Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager, Research London, hybrid working

Competitive salary + commission

We’re working with a fast-growing research, data and strategy consultancy that is looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to join its Growth team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with experience selling market research or insight services who loves opening doors, building relationships and turning conversations into commercial opportunities. You’ll take ownership of new business across a varied research offer, spanning quantitative and qualitative research, brand tracking, audience segmentation and stakeholder research.

The role

You’ll be responsible for building and converting a strong pipeline of new business, targeting senior insight, brand and consumer research buyers. Working closely with experienced researchers and strategic specialists, you’ll help translate complex capabilities into clear, compelling solutions for clients.

You’ll be:

  • Proactively identifying and approaching prospective clients through targeted outreach, LinkedIn, events, warm introductions and thought leadership
  • Developing relationships with senior insight and research buyers
  • Qualifying opportunities and turning conversations into strong research briefs
  • Supporting responses to inbound enquiries, RFIs and tenders
  • Collaborating with research teams on meetings, proposals and pitches
  • Building relationships with procurement teams and intermediary partners
  • Managing your pipeline, forecasting accurately and maintaining the CRM
  • Sharing competitor activity, market sentiment and emerging client needs with the wider business

What we’re looking for

You’ll need at least three years’ experience selling market research services, ideally within a full-service agency, specialist research business or consultancy.

You’ll also bring:

  • A strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research
  • Experience selling solutions such as brand tracking, segmentation or stakeholder research
  • A genuine appetite for winning new clients and delivering against revenue targets
  • An established network across the insight and research community
  • The confidence and credibility to engage with technical research buyers
  • A proactive, self-starting approach to building and owning a pipeline
  • Strong CRM, pipeline management and forecasting skills
  • A collaborative style and ability to work closely with research specialists
  • Plenty of commercial energy, curiosity and enthusiasm for the research industry

Why join? This is a visible and influential role within a growing business, offering genuine ownership of revenue and the opportunity to make your mark on its approach to new business.

You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative team that values new ideas, celebrates success and gives people the freedom to make an impact.

Alongside a competitive salary and commission scheme, benefits include:

  • 25 days’ holiday, plus your birthday off
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Volunteering leave
  • Flexible working
  • 4pm finishes on Fridays
  • Hybrid working from a London office two to three days per week

If you’re a commercially driven business developer who knows the research industry, enjoys winning new clients and wants plenty of ownership over your role, we’d love to hear from you.
